Hammer Score Leaderboard
Hammer Score is a metric calculated for each ride uploaded to KOM Informatics which gauges the amount of work done in the interval portion of your ride. It provides a good basis of comparison to other athletes since it adjusts for both FTP and body weight. Accordingly, it will be used as a basis for a weekly competition!
The report will list the 5 rides highest in Hammer Score that were both ridden in a given week, and uploaded no later than one day passed the end of that week. This denies the possibility that a backfill undertaken in the future will change the results. The report will look at the prior week which starts on a Monday and ends on a Sunday. The winning ride gets 5 points, second place 4 points, third place 3 points etc. The points system will allow the data to be aggregated over more than a single week. If one of your rides doesn't make the top 5 the report will show what place you did come in.
The competition should incentivize one or two hard interval sessions per week which is a facet of many training plans and considered by many to be a best training practice.
